A Memorable Gathering for Christchurch Senior group in Magnificence of Embroidery Exhibition
Since early May, Fo Guang Yuan Art Gallery Christchurch’s Magnificence of Embroidery exhibition by Yao Hong Ying has attracted many Christchurch seniors, with many people organizing trips to pay a group visit. On 25th May, six seniors from the Happy Ramblers walking group and seven members from the Canterbury Embroidery Association visited the exhibition, with each group warmly welcomed by Staff Juin Mei.
The seniors were amazed at the vivid embroidery work and admired the fine detail and vibrant color palette. They were fascinated by the unique double-sided embroidery works, with perfect patterns weaved on both sides. The elderly were curious as to how the artist created so many excellent works and Juin Mei explained that this was due to the artist's childhood upbringing being filled with art and his positive spirit of continuous improvement.
Some of the elderly who visited the exhibition with their family members or friends were so happy after the exhibition that they wanted to recommend the exhibition to more friends from their nursing home. Others said they would like to invite groups of more than 30 people to see the exhibition and some even asked about arranging a mini-bus to transport the elderly to the art gallery.
Since the opening of the Magnificence of Embroidery exhibition, many groups have been coming every day. We believe that the exhibition will bring joy and hope to the people of Christchurch as it blossoms in this garden city!
