3G4G Festival of Cultural Sharing 2021 Working Together with NZP to Build a Harmonious Society
On 25th March 2021, the third day of the 7th 3G4G Festival of Cultural Sharing held at Auckland Temple. 130 Year 3 & 4 students from Ranwick Park School arrived at the Temple with 25 teachers and parents at 10am.
The students were very excited for the festival. They started to greet people around after learning the saying [Ji Xiang] which means auspicious blessing. At the Prince Siddhartha Exhibition, students learnt to make light offering. One student shared that she wished for COVID-19 to end soon, and another shared that she wished everyone to be happy. After watching the movie Life of Buddha at the Prince Siddhartha Exhibition, a student shared that he wants to be kind like the Buddha to help people around him. There was also another student who shared that he learnt to be honest and say good words.
The students enjoyed having an interaction session with the New Zealand Police. Three excellent Police officers: Senior Constable Matt Green, Constable Piho and Constable Paul Zhao reminded the students to apply 3G4G into their daily lives. In the Q&A session, a student asked Senior Constable Matt why he chose to become a police officer? Constable Matt answered and shared that becoming a police officer is the second-best job in the world because he can take care and serve the community. The police officer further explained that being a teacher is a best job of the world and reminded the students to appreciate their teachers for their hard work and for teaching them. During meditation, Vicky, a staff of Auckland Temple told the students to remain grateful in life, to thank their parents for their care, to say thank you to their teachers for their hard work, and to be a better person.
Laura, Teacher from Ranwick Park School thanked the temple for organizing this Festival. She stated that the well-planned activities showed the good effort from the Temple. For many parents, it was their first time visiting the temple. They were so moved and surprised by the atmosphere and beauty of the temple. A parent also said she will bring her younger son to visit as the Temple is an amazing place!
At the end of the festival, many students said that they will come back again and bring their family to visit the Temple. Some students also said that the Temple brought them joy and gave them a peace of mind. One student also shared that she would write in her diary to record the wonderful visit and the message of 3G4G.
