On 27th November 2024, 16 senior leaders from Auckland Pacific Media Network (PMN), led by Chief Executive Officer Don Mann, gathered at Fo Guang Shan Buddhist Temple Auckland for a strategic leadership meeting. The discussion focused on breaking team thinking frameworks and seeking innovation and breakthroughs.

CEO Mann shared that during his previous visit to the Temple with NZP District Commander Executive Assistant Louis Anna, he was captivated by the serene atmosphere. He noted that such an environment encourages focused thinking and efficient task completion, making it an ideal venue for their meeting. Mann also spoke of his connection to the Temple, recalling how his father, a truck driver, played a role in its early development by transporting the Sakyamuni Buddha statue to the site. He expressed pride in his family’s contribution to this significant project.

The Temple specially arranged a meditation session during the meeting, offering participants an experience of stillness and mindfulness. Attendees expressed gratitude for this tranquil experience, recognising meditation as a way to integrate calmness into daily life, relax the body and mind, and enhance work efficiency.

Following the meeting, Deputy President Nick Yoong of the BLIA North Island guided the PMN Team on a tour of the Temple’s various halls and functions. The tour concluded with participants striking the Peace Gong. The visit coincided with the first phase of the 8th Art Salon at the Fo Guang Yuan Art Gallery, showcasing nearly 1,000 works by over 100 local artists. Attendees were moved by the creativity and cultural richness displayed.

On behalf of PMN, Mann presented a finely crafted wooden sculpture to the Temple, expressing gratitude for the serene and beautiful space that enabled the meeting's success and inspired creative insights. Other participants thanked the Temple for preparing delicious and nourishing vegetarian meals, replenishing their energy and leaving a lasting impression. Many expressed an intention to return with their families to recharge at the Temple.
