2023 Children Dharma Class Term 1 Award Ceremony – Appreciation for the Temple
The 9th of April 2023 marked Fo Guang Shan Auckland Children Dharma Class Awards Ceremony of Term 1. BLIA North Island Chapter President Ms Yulin Ku was invited to present the awards to nearly 20 students aged from 5 to 12 years old. These include the attendance award, responsibility award, diligence award, leadership awards, 3G4G awards and helper awards to encourage students for their spectacular achievements throughout the term. In addition, interactive activities such as Charades and Q&As were conducted under the guidance of teachers.
During her speech, President Yulin expressed her gratitude on behalf of the teaching team for the constant support of parents and encouragement towards the children. She emphasized on the importance of learning and developing good qualities and attitudes of children at a young age; planting bodhi seeds and nourishing their growth.
Teacher Elaine added that it was pleasing to see students reflecting on what they have learnt, displaying the intrinsic value in kindness and compassion, and their commitment towards the understanding of positive values discussed in class. Teacher Jane shared: “Student’s improvements every week have been remarkable. The Temple is a beautiful place where Venerables and teachers work together; guiding them to be a diligent, resilience and useful individual to the society.”
Student Zoey expressed her appreciation towards Abbess and Venerables for the efforts they gave towards their learnings, the guidance and help from teachers, and the support of her parents. Student Anthan shared, “Thank you to the Temple, Abbess, Venerables for giving us this opportunity to learn about Dharma, the teachers for giving their time to teach us important values applicable in our lives. Some of the things I’ve learnt include impermanence, aspiration, faith, and causes, conditions and effects.”
Term 1 concluded on a great note with fruitful attainments while students anticipated for the next term for greater achievements.
