2022 FGS Auckland New Year’s Pilgrimage & Sutra Transcription
On Jan 1st, 2022, more than 160 people lined up at 6 am at the Main Gate of Fo Guang Shan Auckland to participate in the annual Pilgrimage and Sutra Transcription. People followed guiding Venerables to recite the Sakyamuni Buddha name and prostrate towards the Buddha in Main Shrine to pray for world peace, the recovery after pandemic and good health for all humankind.
May All Beings Live Without Fear and Coexist in Peace is the 2022 Dharma Words from Venerable Master Hsing Yun. He encourages everyone that in 2022 our faith will give us the necessary strength to free ourselves from fear and encourage us to live together in peace. This is the true path to happiness and peace.
Abbess Manshin led the public with the Prayer of Pilgrimage from Venerable Master, and gave away the Venerable Master’s New Year Couplets to all the participants, said,” All races, countries and people in the world need to coexist peacefully, we also need to learn to live with the pandemic wisely. At the beginning of the new year, I wish everyone have new aspirations, new behaviour, and new vows.”
Venerable Master once said, I Am Among the Multitude, thus the FGS Temple Auckland has prepared hot buns for the public on New Year's Day as a token of appreciation for everyone. Abbess Manshin pointed out that the bun symbolizes the equality and the practice of Give others joy by Venerable Master.
After the Pilgrimage and Sutra Transcription, not only did the public receive the Venerable Master's Chinese New Year couplets and buns, but the Abbess also gave out Auspicious Red Packets for the year 2022. Abbess wishes everyone in the year of Tiger to stay safe, gain more wisdom and compassion, to cultivate a Bodhi heart. Over 1200 people visited the Temple to receive blessings as a great start to the new year.
