Christchurch’s Water Drop Café Successfully Celebrated Mother’s Day with the Mother’s Day High Tea
Coinciding with the celebration of Buddha's Birthday and Mother's Day, on 8 May 2022, Fo Guang Shan (FGS) Christchurch’s Water Drop Cafe specially launched an Exquisite Handmade Vegetarian English High Tea to celebrate Mother's Day. All the refreshments that day were hand-made, not only in line with the standard preparation of traditional English High Tea, but also incorporating the concept of healthy vegetables and vegetarian food consumption. This Mother’s Day High Tea was very popular. Hundreds of people from Christchurch attended the event and the Water Drop Cafe was fully packed.
This year, Water Drop Cafe emphasised on its signature dim sum dishes. The main dishes included healthy mini bamboo charcoal black burgers, handmade crystal dumplings, exquisite rose sushi, and traditional foods comprising of special sandwiches and mini scones. The desserts included low-sugar vegan macarons, Matcha chiffon cakes, chocolate strawberry sweets, and golden pearl milkshakes. Those who attended the High Tea claimed that the food was exquisite, delicious, healthy, and of high-quality; the presentation of the food was pleasing to the eye; the layout and deco of the venue were elegantly done; and the services of the staff were warm and delightful.
The public was very happy to have spent an unforgettable Mother's Day at the Water Drop Café during this stressful time of pandemic, and they made reservations to come again next year. Some guests had participated in this event for several years, and each year, the event never failed to spring new surprises to them, making them eagerly looking forward to the celebration the next year. One of the guests, Tony, left a message on his Facebook page after the High Tea. He spoke highly of the event, praising that: the vegetarian dim sums were prepared with great care, with different options such as egg, lacto, and vegetarian options available to meet the different needs of the guests. The venue layout was quite elegantly done. Tony was moved by the warmth and friendliness of the service staff. He hoped that the event will be held next year, and promised that he will definitely come and participate.
In view of Water Drop Café’s hard work over the years, the Development Christchurch Ltd (DCL) Board, when publishing the Mother's Day activities on its official website, specially recommended that the Mother’s Day English High Tea at Water Drop Cafe was an event worthy of the families celebrating Mother’s Day with their mothers.
Following the saying “The Wheel of Food will turn first before the Wheel of Dharma turns”. FGS Christchurch’s Water Drop Café was setup to attract the public into the Temple through the offering of good food, thus savouring people’s souls with skilful indirect method. Water Drop Café also brings joy to the public by providing them with quality services, in line with the spirit of “Giving” advocated by Humanistic Buddhism. This has, in some ways, injected stability and happiness into today’s turbulent Society.
